My Grandpa Pinky

My Grandpa Pinky passed away this month. Many things went through my mind when I heard the news. Unfortunately I had regrets about not talking to him more or getting to visit or that Skyler never met him. We were so blessed to be able to send me back to Pennsylvania for the funeral. It was a beautiful service and there were so many people there who had nothing but loving words to say about him. It was nice to hear how he touched so many lives with his big heart and his laughter.
Despite the circumstances I have to admit that we also a lot of fun together. My sister Heidi was able to be there as well. This was neat for her. It was probably the only time that so many of the family members could be in one place together and she was able to meet so many of them. Plus we got to hang out more just the two of us :)
I got to see my cousin Leslie who I haven't seen in FOREVER!! That was a lot of fun.
It was nice to be with my grandma during this time. We played dress up and Heidi - the amazing photographer - took some nice shots of her. This is one of my favorites.
Like I said, we had a little fun. My initial reaction is guilt, but when I think about it we were all there together reminicing about Grandpa and enjoying each other. I think he was probably glad to see us all together.

  1. I am crying right now... not just from the laughter from the last several pictures, but because of the true sisterhood I feel with you especially after that trip. I have thought about it a lot, and in Grandpa's death he still accomplished a great work. He brought a family home, together finally. And although he was not there in body and spirit, he was there in spirit as we praise the shell before us. I can't tell you how much that trip meant to me. I love you Lyndsey, truly, like the sister I never thought I would get the chance to have. XOXO
